Vocational Assessments
A vocational assessment is an objective analysis of an individual’s transferrable skills, cognitive and functional abilities, and interests, in order to identify suitable and sustainable job options that are most likely to align to their career aspirations. Vocational assessments are pre-dominantly used when individuals are no longer able to return to their pre-disability employment.
At M-Power Counselling, I use an evidenced base, client centred and solution focused approach to identify an individual’s capacity for suitable and realistic alternate employment that aligns to the current labour market. Through a collaborative approach I assist individuals identify realistic, safe, and sustainable alternative employment. The ultimate goal of a vocational assessment is to facilitate an individual’s re-engagement into the workforce.
Transferable Skills Assessment
A transferrable skills analysis is an in-depth analysis of an individual’s existing employment, training and education that could transfer to alternate employment. A transferrable skills analysis considers not only skills learned through employment but also through education, training, hobbies, recreational and volunteer activities. A transferrable skills analysis is useful when individuals have a wide range of skills and experience and do not require retraining to re-enter the open labour market or when an individual can no longer return to their usual occupation.
At M-Power Counselling, I undertake a thorough review of an individual’s education, social, employment, training, and medical history to determine employment opportunities that the individual may be suited to in the future. The goal is to assist injured individuals to better understand their abilities and to help make informed decisions about their vocational future. It can also assist insurers, employers, and rehabilitation professionals, identify an individual’s skills and experience for new placements, test work capacity and establish return to work strategies.
Employability Assessments
An employability assessment is a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s capacity for employment based on their education, training, and experience and within their functional capabilities.
At M-Power Counselling I endeavour to provide a clear and detailed analysis of an individual’s education, training, transferrable skills and experience, and capacity for future employment based on their physical or psychological capacity. My goal is to provide an objective assessment of vocationally and medically suitable goals, and how these goals relate to the individuals ability to obtain future employment within their education, training, or experience.
