Social Media Policy
Outlined below is the Social Media Policy for M-Power Counselling & Consultancy
This document outlines:
- My policies related to use of social media
- My conduct on the Internet as a mental health professional
- My online interactions with you
If you have any questions in relation to this document, I encourage you to kindly discuss them with me during our sessions together.
There may be times when I need to update this policy and I will notify you in writing of any policy changes.
SOCIAL MEDIA CONTACT REQUESTS AND FOLLOWING
To respect and ensure your privacy and confidently, and to ensure the ongoing integrity of our therapeutic relationship I do not accept friend or contact requests from my clients on any social networking site such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram etc.
I maintain a Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram Page for my professional practice, to provide updates and other information relevant to my practice. I welcome you to read, respectfully comment or share articles posted there. Please be aware that by doing so you may indirectly impact your privacy and confidentiality, as people in your online networks may infer that you are seeing me for therapy.
Please note that M-Power Counselling & Consultancy reserves the right to delete any comments that are deemed harmful or inappropriate.
I do not follow my clients on any social media platforms as I believe it could blur the professional boundaries of our therapeutic relationship. If there is anything from your online platforms that you wish to share with me, I encourage you to kindly bring them to our sessions.
INTERACTING
The best way to contact me in between sessions is by mobile phone on 0430 303 172 or email miriam@mpowercc.com.au. If I am unavailable, please leave me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Please do not contact me on social networking sites such as Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or LinkedIn, as I do not read theses messages. These messaging platforms could also compromise your confidentiality.
SEARCH ENGINES AND BUSINESS REVIEW SITES
I do not look up clients on social networking site such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Google etc. However, if I have reason to suspect that you are in danger to yourself, I may use an online platform to reach out to you or your emergency contact to ensure your welfare. Any such contact will be fully document and discussed with you at our next meeting.
You may find my details on various online sites such as Google Reviews, True Local, Brisbane City Council etc. Many of these sites comb search engines for business listings and automatically add them to their websites, with the option to rate the business and add reviews. Please note that if you should find my listing on any such sites, it is NOT a request for a testimonial, review, rating, or endorsement from you.
Whilst it is your right to express yourself on any online platform, I urge you to consider your privacy and confidentiality as you are sharing your personal information on a public forum. To maintain your privacy and confidentiality I cannot respond to any comments you make on these sites. Please do not use these sites to communicate with me, as I may not see these messages.
Should you have any feedback, concerns or comments in relation to our work together, I encourage you to discuss it with me in our sessions so we can address these concerns in a safe and respectively setting. I am open to all feedback and believe that this is an important part of our therapeutic relationship.
Thank you for taking the time to review my Social Media Policy. Please feel free to contact me on 0430 303 172 or miriam@mpowercc.com.au if you have any further questions.
